So, did you pen a sestina? Were you pensive about writing in a form? Whatever your pencil was inspired to produce after reading and discussing Denise Duhamel's Delta Flight 659, we can't wait to see it!
From today until next Sunday, you can post links to your poems in the comment section. Be sure to visit all your fellow poets and read their penultimate poetry!
Next weekend, we'll post a free-for-all (be sure to stop by and see the surprise!). Then, on Sunday, April 5, we will welcome National Poetry Month with a new poet and poem up for discussion.

I jumped the gun and posted my link earlier this morning, in the previous thread of comments. Oh well. So here it is again: http://awomanandherwords.blogspot.com.
My blog is about more than just poetry so if anyone clicks onto it after I've added another entry, just look for the one with Sestina in the title.
Looking forward to reading others' work!
I really do love sestinas and couldn't resist writing one for this week.
As Duhamel did, I wanted to do something a little different and had the idea of having the first six letters of the alphabet as my ending sounds. So, that's what I did and it was much harder that I thought it would be.
I used a dictionary, thesaurus, rhyming dictionary, and even asked my poetry-writing students for help. They came up with quite a few cool words that I ended up using, too, except they were disappointed that I didn't include "boobie"!
Here it is.
Given Denise Duhamel's "Delta Flight 65 touched upon war and fear -- I have been inspired to offer two poems from a soldier's perspective.
Love & War
Fear of Flying Is not a sestina, but more a response poem. I didn't have the chops for a sestina. Or a war poem. Even though the "anniversary" of the one in Iraq was just last week.
Hey! This was hard. I tried to write a mock sestina like Denise Duhamel's.
Phew! And I wrote about a celebrity, a gorilla named Willie B who died eight years ago, right before 911.
Glass Houses
bah. i've messed up commenting somehow twice. it just disappears. anyway, thanks everyone for doing the prompt! i'll be around to visit in a bit. i started two poems of my own, inspired by celebrities, but i just returned from visiting my mom and haven't had a chance to bring them out of the notes/brainstorm stage. soon! soon!
I was so worried that there would be over 100 poems on this site to read, all inspired by the monthly poem-prompt. Obviously, lots of people loved the poem and commented on it but haven't had time (yet?) to write something from the prompt. Or are too busy this month to participate. I've loved the works read so far and am hoping there will be a few more by Sunday to check out. Thanks again, Jill & Carolee, for doing this. I never expected to write TWO poems and am thrilled!
Eeep... I'm one of those who hasn't (yet) had a chance to write to the prompt and probably won't have a chance before the week is out. Excessive over-scheduling over here.
Loved the poem and have mentally bookmarked the prompt, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's coming up next...
mine is still in progress. i keep researching words. i need to stop and just write. i have my celebrity picked out. i have a list of way too many words. i've dabbled a bit. the trick isn't just to find some clever little word variations, but to make them actually mean something/tell a story. ahhhh!
